Capturing the Soul of Baltimore: A Photo Shoot with Reverend Brenda White
As a commercial and annual report photographer in Baltimore, I’m fortunate to work on a variety of interesting projects. This is an older project, but I never had the chance to share this here.
I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot for Thrivent magazine, featuring Rev Brenda White, the pastor of Allen AME Church in West Baltimore. From the moment I met Reverend White, I knew that this day was going to be something special. Her warm, welcoming demeanor and genuine passion were truly inspiring. We discussed the message that she wanted to convey through the photos. Rev. Brenda impressed me with the thoughtfulness and depth of her insights.
Throughout the shoot, I strove to capture the essence of Reverend White’s spirit and the beauty of the church’s surroundings. I mixed my lighting with the natural light of the church. I framed the shots to create a sense of intimacy and connection with the viewer. I also interviewed Reverend White and captured some b-roll footage. This allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of her as a person. It was an honor to work with her. It was amazing working with Brenda, and telling her story.
