Remembering Wendy Rieger

I heard about Wendy Rieger’s passing this weekend. This was particularly sad for me, as I photographed her only months before her cancer diagnosis for Adventist Healthcare’s Healthcare & You magazine. It was such a fun experience meeting Wendy and driving out to her house in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains for the shoot. She was so alive and vital.

I was contacted to for an editorial assignment photographing TV news anchor Wendy Rieger for a magazine cover. Since this was during the pandemic, Wendy was working remotely at times in her mountain retreat. My assistant and I packed up and went down many roads (paved and not!) to meet her for this shoot. We were rewarded with stunning vistas and stonework around her home that looked like it had been there for centuries. I am attracted to atmospheric and warm moods, and found them in abundance at this location. It was a long drive, but well worth the results.

I hope these photos help memorialize a portion of who Wendy was to all who knew her, both in person and over the air.
